Edinburgh Parking Guide is an independent information site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for the City of Edinburgh Council or any enforcement contractor. Official processes — paying a PCN, formal challenges, permit applications — take place through the council, and this site links you to the right official page wherever that applies.
Every page is researched, written from first-hand professional experience and kept up to date with genuine care — but parking restrictions, prices and hours change, sometimes overnight, and temporary suspensions appear at short notice. The sign on the street always wins. Nothing here is legal advice, and no guide on this site overrides what is posted at the kerb. You remain responsible for your own parking decisions, and this site accepts no liability for penalties, losses or costs arising from reliance on its content.
The Appeal Review is a personal, human assessment of your PCN based on the information and photos you provide. It is an honest professional opinion — including, often, the opinion that you should simply pay — but it is not legal advice or representation, and no outcome at the council or tribunal is guaranteed. Deadlines remain your responsibility: the review does not pause the 14-day discount window or any statutory time limit.
The writing, data and tools here took years of street-level knowledge to build. You are welcome to link to any page. Please do not republish, scrape or copy substantial parts of the site — including the street dataset — without asking first via the contact form.
What the labels mean. Community posts are written by readers, not by this site. A post marked “not yet verified” is exactly that — a lead to check against the sign on the street, not a rule. “Verified” means the site officer checked it on the ground and it was accurate at the time of checking; rules and markings change, so the sign still wins. “Corrected” means the officer found it wrong and has said why. This site is not responsible for penalty charges, damage or any other loss arising from acting on a community post of any status.
Your posts. Anything you post must be your own, true to the best of your knowledge, about parking in Edinburgh, and lawful. No abuse, spam, advertising, personal data about other people (including number plates), or content you do not have the right to share. By posting you give this site a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, edit, label, quote and keep your post as part of the community and the wider guide, including after you delete your account. You keep ownership of what you write.
Moderation. The site officer may verify, correct, relabel, hide or delete any post or reply, and may suspend or ban any account, at his discretion and without notice, to keep the community accurate and civil. Posting limits apply to slow spam. You can delete your own posts and replies at any time.
Your account. You sign in by emailed link, so keep your email account secure; anything posted from your account is treated as yours. One account per person. Accounts and their content may be deleted on request, or removed if unused or in breach of these terms.
