Parking at Ocean Terminal (Leith)

๐Ÿ‘ฎ Written by an experienced enforcement officer in Edinburghยท 2026 edition

Ocean Terminal in Leith is a rare thing in Edinburgh โ€” a big shopping centre with free parking โ€” and it's also where you board the Royal Yacht Britannia. That makes it one of the easiest places in the whole city to park.

โš“ The short answerOcean Terminal has a large free car park, open 7 days, right beside the Royal Yacht Britannia. No charge, no parking zone โ€” just turn up. It's a handy free base for exploring Leith and the waterfront.

Free parking at Ocean Terminal

The centre's car park is free and open seven days a week. After years of central Edinburgh's pricey zones, it's a genuine relief โ€” there's no meter, no app and no zone to worry about. It's the simplest parking anywhere near the Leith waterfront.

Visiting the Royal Yacht Britannia

The Britannia is reached through Ocean Terminal, so the centre's free car park is exactly where you want to be. Park, walk in, and the entrance to the yacht is on the centre's upper level.

Exploring Leith from here

It's an easy walk from Ocean Terminal to the Shore and Leith's restaurants and bars. If the centre car park is ever busy, on-street Leith is Zone N8 โ€” free in the evenings and at weekends โ€” but for most visits the free car park is the obvious choice.

Getting there

Frequent Lothian buses connect the city centre to Leith and Ocean Terminal, and the Newhaven tram line also serves Leith. But with free parking on site, driving here is genuinely stress-free.
