Parking near Murrayfield Stadium

๐Ÿ‘ฎ Written by an experienced enforcement officer in Edinburghยท 2026 edition

Murrayfield (Scottish Gas Murrayfield) hosts rugby internationals and big concerts. The single most important thing to know: there is no parking at the stadium, and none in the surrounding streets, on event days. Here's how to actually get there.

๐Ÿ‰ The short answerOn match and concert days there is no public parking at the stadium, and the residential streets around it (Roseburn, Balgreen, Corstorphine) are restricted and enforced. Use the tram (dedicated Murrayfield stop) or the free Ingliston Park & Ride, or walk about 45 minutes from the centre. Blue Badge spaces are by advance ballot only.

No parking on event days

Scottish Rugby is clear: there's no parking at the stadium and none in the streets nearby on matchdays. The council enforces the controlled parking zones around the ground, and there are road closures, so trying to drive in and park is a wasted journey (and a likely ticket).

How to get there

OptionDetail
Tram (easiest)Dedicated Murrayfield stop right at the Roseburn Street turnstiles; frequent from the city centre and airport
Ingliston Park & RideFree, 1,085 spaces, off the A8; take the tram or bus to the stadium
Walkโ‰ˆ45 min from Princes Street via Haymarket & Roseburn (the โ€œRugby Walkโ€); 20 min from Haymarket

After the final whistle a queuing system runs at the Murrayfield tram stop โ€” the right-hand queue heads to the city centre, Leith and Newhaven (via Haymarket and St Andrew Square for Waverley); the left-hand queue is for airport-bound services and Ingliston Park & Ride.

โœ… Beat the queuesTransport queues peak the moment the event ends. It's often quicker to stay in the fan village for 30โ€“45 minutes and let the first wave clear before heading for the tram.

Blue Badge parking

A limited number of accessible spaces are available, but they must be pre-booked through Scottish Rugby โ€” typically allocated by ballot for internationals and big events, around two weeks ahead. There's no access to the disabled car park without the required pass.

Non-event days

Visiting the Scottish Rugby Store or taking a stadium tour? On non-event days parking is available via the gatehouse on Roseburn Street.
